Wonderful and extremely talented! These guys can play the guitar, and they can sing too, especially on this album when it comes to the lyrics! They get the truth out there; it does not matter what political party you are- they are singing for the people. It is nothing to try to ignore or defend, Monsanto is out there distroying our planet, and risking our health. The big corporations are another story- neil sings for the working man who deserves to be supported.
You can't hide the facts, dont complain about the sound if you don't like the words they are singing. Awesome album, great job to Neil and all the guys with Promise of the Real!!

To all reviewers stating this is a political album - “Food” shouldn’t be a political issue and only is because Monsanto has bought and paid for our politicians (mostly Republican). Review voting records on Project Vote Smart to view this trend. They voted down fruits and vegetable funding in schools but support subsidizing the sugar industry and have aligned their votes in support of Monsanto. Because of this trend, it’s important we have artists standing up for our right to eat whole unadulterated foods (especially food not spliced with pesticides). Any of you that have an issue with this - you are free to continue making your choice to ingest pesticides, and support factory farming, and support your right to not know of what you eat. Have at it.
For those of use who want to preserve our right to know of what we ingest; support small family farmers; rally against Monsanto for contaminating small family farmer’s crops with their GMO genes and then suing the small family farmer as a result - thank you, Neil.

Reading these reviews, it is very apparent where the reviewers political party affiliations lie. For me there are three or four above average songs with a nice raw rock and roll vibe, such a refreshing change from the homogenized, bland music that all the Beyoncé and other "modern" artists seem to delight their fans with. Let the man be political. Neil's rock and roll has never been pretty which only adds to its impact. One reviewer even lamented that he didn't get Monsanto's permission to use their name! Huh?!?! Far better than Mr. Young's last two releases, my favorite since Living With War. Getting old is never pretty, but I am so glad to see he doesn't mind pissing off people and still has a need to speak out. Seems like some people don't like that fact. It makes them have to think.

I have heard different opinions on GMO'S. Young has always been political. But the songwriting on this release is just inept.This is just unlistenable all I hear is slogans.He's starting to turn off a lot of his long time fans.He would have been better suited writing an editorial than releasing this.Its also a another rushed release. Too many misses than hits from him lately.

Wasn't a fan at first...but I saw them live the other night and WOW...not even just the classics, but the new songs were awesome from Neil and POTR. I understand the Monsanto deal can be a little much for some people on this album, but don't forget Neil has been writing protest songs for a long time! Ohio...Alabama..Southern Man...etc. Give this album a second listen and it will grow on you!...all that aside you must see them live! what an experience!

I read a ton of bad reviews from "fans" who are satisfied with repackaging the old. I just saw Neil and Promise of the Real at Red Rocks. What a great concert. They mixed in the new with the classics and there was no drop off and no fading away. The young Nelson boys and the rest of the band did an outstanding job rocking with a legend.
I'm no hippie and I will tell you that the words and meanings of Monsanto Years struck a major chord with me. Keep on Rockin' in the Free World Neil!
