  • Criminally underrated

I've been listening to Neil Young since Buffalo Springfield days. I've had nearly every one of his albums. While history will judge his "greatness" by such indisputable iconic efforts such as Harvest, After The Gold Rush and Rust Never Sleeps, this is my favorite album. And it's not even close. There's not a bad track on the whole album. Raw, intimate, and searing, it is, in my opinion, the album where we see inside NY in the most intimate and painful way. Here he is at his world-weary best. Therein lies it's greatness.
  • Neil Young at his best.

This album shows Neil Young at his best, and his most tortured, due to the fact he lost Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten, who sings lead vocals on "Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown", and roadie Bruce Berry, who is mentioned by name in the first line of the album's title track. From the haunting wails Neil lets out on "Mellow My Mind" to the beautiful steel guitar on "Albuquerque", this is, in my opinion, Neil Young's best studio album, full of pain and sorrow, sadness and suffering, emotions which manifest themselves perfectly on this album.
