  • set the trend

in my opinion, this album set the trend for the way electronic music would turn into industrial music. i had this on vinyl and i'm sure i wore it out. the trancy electronic grooves are timeless and even though al didn't have much credit on this album, you can see the influence from it in his music down the road. i like this release.

I like this feel, Ministry has never kept to one sound & I guess that's why I enjoy them so much 😜

This is were Ministry starts to get interesting, Al begins experimenting with electronics and gets a little more aggressive both musically and lyrically. I wouldn't recommend this for first time listeners, the guitars are absent from this one and its definitely not as agressive as the next 2 80's releases, but if you end up being a big fan, give this a shot, if you dont mind the mid 80's industrial/dance feel this record has it will make for a pretty good listen

One of the best industrial music albums of all time. The Wax Trax scene in the late eighties produced some of the best club music ever made. This album led the way...

The band is still new wave, but it seems as if a wall is pushing the metal back, as if a metal build up. Very weird.....not great but ok..

Al, you gotta give up the hate man. This album, and With Sympathy are by far your best. Love the music, and stop hating yourself and everyone else dude.

Had it on vinal, and it rocked a little more than it did on CD. Would love a well done remaster of this. This includes bonus tracks not on the vinal pressing but available on the CD. It is produced by Adrian Sherwood, who is best know for his work with Dub, Reggae, and Industrial Music. This is one of his best works in my opinion as a producer. Now just putting out a wish to the universe... Would love to see Everyday (Is Halloween) added as a bonus track. (All Day / Everyday Is Halloween were released together in 1985 as a 12" single). I always felt this album would be a good home for that song.

I was fortunate enough to find this at a local Borders store for $6, so I feel bad for anybody who ends up spending a lot on this album (Borders is notoriously overpriced, generally). This could be considered the first legitimate Ministry album, since Al Jourgensen himself said that "With Sympathy" was not his creative product. This album is a bit poppy compared to later material, but you can hear the heavy undercurrent that eventually will fuel the next twenty or so years of Ministry anger. I recommend listening to a few samples before purchasing it.
