While in high school (1982) I had to dumpsters dive to find aluminum cans for money to eat. I found a cassette with no label I put it in my Shopko cassette player and discovered this album. I had no idea who the artist were but, could not get enough. I wore it out. I asked some if the knew who they were, “duh” they said, that’s Judas Priest! I have great memories of listen to album! Thank you, Priest!

Great album but apple removed diamonds and rust, and continues to remove songs from other albums. I already had it downloaded you stupid aholes. Put it back!
  • Amazing album, bad remaster

The high-end frequencies of the album are nice and defined, but this master has way too much bass and almost no mids. It's annoying, but the album is spectacular, probably their second best in my opinion, the first being Stained Class, of course.

A classic album. I would give it 5 stars, but I prefer the live versions on Unleashed of the songs Victim of Changes and The Ripper. Dreamer Deceiver and Deceiver are great, with Halford hitting some very low notes during the former. Tyrant is my favorite song here...I just love the guitar riff and the different song sections. Genocide is another outstanding heavy number. The oddball out on the album is Epitaph, which is just piano and vocals and no guitars! I actually like the song a lot and the lyrics fit in with the other themes on the album. A great album!

Absolutely marvelous album from start to finish, from masterpieces like Victims of Changes and Tyrant are easily one of the greatest Metal songs to be written. It's a must buy for any Metal/JP fan.

The second release from Judas Priest showcases all that is great with the mighty Priest. The songs are more what fans come to expect, and the chemistry within the band has grown since Rocka Rolla. Several of the songs still appear in their live set even today. Standout songs include Victim Of Changes, The Ripper, Tyrant, Dreamer Deceiver, Deceiver, Genocide, and Island Of Domination. Prelude is an nice intro to Tyrant, and Epitaph is a somber song of what old age brings to so many.
  • Still one of heavy metal's true classics

Rocka Rolla was a masterpiece of an album, but this is where Priest as they're known today came into clearer focus. They took their progressive, jam-oriented sound and made it heavier and darker, and the full talents of the band, especially Halford, Downing, and Tipton, were highlighted in the process. THIS is an album every metal fan needs to hear, not just to understand where metal (and Priest themselves) came from but also to fully appreciate the genre itself at the core. It's a collection of songs that understands the need for variety and applies its own sort, from proggy epics (Victim of Changes) and crisp singles (The Ripper) to beautiful ballads (Epitaph) and bluesy hard rockers (Genocide) and heavy, brooding metal songs (Tyrant). You rarely see that kind of production in albums anymore, not just in metal but in any kind of music. Judas Priest are the Metal Gods; they mastered their craft long ago and have been leading the charge ever since. If you've ever doubted that, don't put an album like British Steel or Painkiller in your stereo. This is the real deal.

This is probably one of my favorite albums by Priest. With classics like "The Ripper", Victim of Changes, and Island of Domination, this album rocks!!

Its not really underrated but I can't really understand why this album isn't one of Judas Priest's most popular albums, because it is a complete and utter masterpiece, every song is unique, original, and I've never understood why this album isn't that popular for Priest albums because it has so many classic Priest hits: Victim Of Changes, The Ripper, Island Of Domination...But to me EVERY single song is incredible.
