  • The best Priest line-up and their best LP....

Along with the classic "Stained Class" (released earlier in 1978) this is Priest at their creative apex...The songs are incredible and the performances are stunning. Drummer Les Binks drives the band to new heights...Moreover, the production is unique and exceptional...tough, raw and yet quite warm and engaging. One of the best hard rock records of the 1970's...An absolute, stone-cold CLASSIC!!!

This is an incredible Priest album, an essential for those interested in the evolution of metal and really anyone who enjoys metal at all. So much of what contemporary metal fans are latching onto with modern power metal started with albums like this, making HBfL (or really...Killing Machine) an album that simply must be explored. On another note, a little rebuke for iTunes...why in the world isn’t Sad Wings of Destiny available for purchase or download with Apple Music? Come on, guys...what the hell???

I would say this album is superior to the muched celebrated British Steel. It starts off with Delivering the Goods and before you know it this 35 min. metal masterpiece closes out with you wanting me. If you're someone looking for something with catchy guitar leads and riffing, with amazing vocals bang that buy button. Favorite Tracks: Delivering the Goods, Burnin' Up, The Green Manalishi, and Evil Fantasies.

This is the first Judas Priest not to have any long songs on it. I think the first half of the album has some clunkers on it, like Take On The World and Rock Forever, but I absolutely love the second half, from Burnin' Up to Killing Machine, the ballad Before the Dawn (great crooning from Halford) to the album's closing cut Evil Fantasies. Another wonderful and artsy album cover. Good album.

Hell Bent for Leather is one of the best heavy metal albums of all time. Then along comes the digital age and ruins it. Do we really need to crappily mixed songs added to the end of the album? I hate how all the artists claim that albums are works of art and then the studios try to make an extra buck by adding bonus songs. The album needs to stand alone as a work of art.
  • A must-have

While it's a slight step down from it's predecessor, Hell Bent for Leather represents Judas Priest at the top of their game. Steadily gaining fame and radio airplay, they were continuously gaining momentum, leaving behind traits of their past work in favor of faster riffing and catchier hooks. They produced a slew of hits such as the title track and "Delivering the Goods", and some of the other cuts such as "Running Wild" and "Killing Machine" are oft overlooked but nevertheless special gems. "Before the Dawn" is also a nice addition, a lovely acoustic ballad with great imagery and a laid-back feel amidst relentless metal tracks. This is an album every metalhead should hear, as important to the genre as anything Black Sabbath did and certainly more important than any of Metallica's work.

Yes they had some good songs before this one but was where they really understood where they wanted their sound to go in the future and achieved it in my opinion. By far the highlight of this album is US title track to me.
