Great song writing on this album, and great guitar riffs.
  • Hugely underrated 🔥

This is priests first album, and it’s way different from what you may expect. It’s all out classic, psychedelic, prog rock that blends in well track by track, very masterfully created. “One for the road” got my song of the year in Spotify last year so that must be saying something lol. If you’re into classic rock give this a spin, it’s a BOP!
  • Their best album in my opinion.

One of my favorite Judas Priest albums. My two favorite songs are Never Satisfied and Run Of The Mill. Not their heaviest album by a long shot, but I like the songs a bunch.

This album was the worst from the original lineup. How would I know? How about, they never play any of the songs from this album in their concerts. I believe Diamonds & Rust was also not on the original release, it was on "Sin after Sin." The production sounds very low budget and muffled. As far as their early albums are concerned, Sad Wings of Destiny is 10x better. How would I know? Songs like Victim of Changes and The Ripper were standards in the live shows for decades.
  • Is Judas Priest funky?

I think so. Judas Priest had a sense of groove only rivaled in heavy metal by Black Sabbath. One for the Road absolutely rocks. One of my favorite Priest songs. The version of Diamonds and Rust is better here than on Sin after Sin or Unleashed, as the vocals are better and the song has a stiffer beat. Run of the Mill, Rocka Rolla, and Cheater, are all solid as well.
  • Absolute Magnificance

This album rocks with pure awesomeness!!! I absolutely love the blend of blues rock and hard rock combined together. One For the Road and Rocka Rolla are songs that I can go to a bar and drink a few pitchers of brew!!!

This is the first official release by the Judas Priest lineup that has Rob Halford as the lead singer. Most of the material was written with co-founder Al Atkins, with some changes to the songs thrown in by Rob. There are hints of what the mighty Priest would become on several of the songs. The standout songs are Rocka Rolla, Never Satisfied, Run Of The Mill, and the hidden track Hero Hero (contained in the song Dying To Meet You).

"Rocka Rolla" has a nostalgic quality for me, which is odd because I had never listened to it before today. I've been on metal for a long time now, and Judas Priest's most famous works above all, but this...it's nothing like those. It brings back the days when Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and the Stones and Jimi Hendrix were all the rock I listened to, and boy do I love it. It's got such a chill, bluesy sound to it, a far cry from the fury of productions like "Screaming for Vengeance" or "Painkiller". I recommend it for anybody. Priest fans will find it interesting for all the little bits of their future sound you can find in among the crunchy 70s sound, and for anybody else it's just a solid rock album all around. "Underrated" defined.
