Roger Waters has this special genius ability to combine haunting beautiful melody with incisive pointed commentary. His lyrics are thoughtful and well-articulated. He is fearless as he leaves no doubt concerning his position as a humanitarian. His message is thought-provoking. He readily dismisses any charge that he is pretentious. He is anti-war not out of any political view at all. Waters addresses the mentality of war; the reality of war not from the point of view of any monkey watching TV, but the point of view of the young soldiers on the front being maimed, killed, and taumatized by every moan and groan and scream of those who experience the true horror of war. He is dismayed at the way war is promoted as a game show and how easily people are duped into sending young men and women to kill other men and women and innocents (children, elderly) that they have never met. As for George W. Bush; I urge everyone to read Vincent Bugliosi's book, The Trial of George W. Bush for Murder. Bugliosi, like Waters, pulls no punches. War is what it is; death and murder. Roger Waters does not want us to forget that. Bush appears to have never really thought about it. You won't ever see Bush or any of his family go to war. Roger Waters expression is truly meaningful. He is gifted with the ability to write incredibly beautiful music matched with clearly articulated no-beating-around-the-foxhole lyrics with a strong message. Would the world not be a better place if people with conscience; people like Roger Waters, were in charge?

I love it, but why 4 stars then? TONE DOWN THE BACKUP SINGERS!, way way too loud im sure that i would listen to these two songs more often if the backup singers were much quieter

WOW!!! Heard it and seen it live I'm still on a natural HIGH years later. If you're not familiar with his style the lyrics could be taken out of context. Forward the lyrics to the Bush Administration, never mind it's a little too late for that the damage has been done. No one does it better than Roger Waters you won't be disappointed.

Make a new album already! I was really glad when this came out.... 5 years ago! These songs are great, but I need more! There hasn't been a new Roger Waters album since 1992!
  • Music ok, lyrics treasonous

Roger Waters needs the rest of the PF gang to make really good music. As far as the lyrics go, it is ironic that a man who could not make peace with his band members feels qualified to lecture the world on the causes of the Middle East conflict.
