Us + Them

The show itself was fantastic, best live sound I’ve ever experienced. Unfortunately Nigel Godrich mixed this album, so the energy of the show is assassinated by the fact that everything sounds like it was recorded with the mic enclosed inside a cardboard box.

Waters revisits his catalogue and spruces some stuff up while adding some of his new music. Incredible show. Great music. Cash grab? Yeah, right. He performs and puts stuff out to send a message and for the pure joy of connecting these days. That’s pretty obvious.

Don't get me wrong, I like Roger songs but every time there's a new concert coming up it doesn't surprise me that it's nothing but old songs and nothing new... why not just put a new album or two out

Turns out Roger Waters is a greedy Capitalist afterall. His voice has gotten progressively more awful througout the years.

It was simply amazing! OK, some of the songs are nearly 50 years old. Big deal; it's a live album. It documents this incredible tour and is a fantastic compilation of songs. If the sound on this album is anything like the live performance, then this album will be great!

same old pink floyd problem,. theres certain tunes just not the same without gilmour on guitar and when gilmour plays his versions, there is certain songs just not the same without roger waters. oh well.

Saw the show in LA. Picked up the live show for $4.99 on here a few weeks ago. I’d buy the live show.

Whether it’s Floyd, Gilmor, or Waters the sounds still are amazing. Thanks Roger for another masterpiece .

I know people have been giving this album a hard time. But I think while yes, it’s mostly the same songs that Roger has been doing his whole career; I think the way he presented them as a whole piece makes it more satisfying, with the modernization of some classic PF tunes, and the inclusion of his new material makes it a worthy piece. Btw, I am going to make a review, based off the film, which is basically the exact same as the album. The good: Roger has really outdone himself when it comes to the bombastic and enormous live shows he’s put on for the past couple years. And this one is no exception. I quite like Roger’s vocal delivery, while yes a lot of it is playback, some of it (I:e “Welcome to the Machine, “Dogs”, “Time”, etc) gave me goosebumps. His vocals definitely aged overtime, but they give it an extra grunge that really gives it new life, i’ll take Roger’s vocals here over “In the Flesh Live”’s vocals anytime. The music itself, is pretty accurate to their original studio counterparts, which was probably done intentionally (he’s been picky with keeping it the same as the studio recording ever since The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking tour), but it still sounds great nonetheless. The bad: Okay... the guy who Roger got to do the Gilmour vocals. Sucked. There, I said it. I’m sure he’s a fine vocalist on his own, but he really shouldn’t be singing Pink Floyd songs, he downright ruins a lot of them. The only song I think they truly work, is “Us and Them” the quite whispering voice actually helps. But every other song just gets butchered by this guy. He HAD Jon Carin on this tour. So there’s no excuse for that guy to do all the Gilmour parts. Another problem with this album is... the lack of songs, this album doesn’t represent the full tour, since two whole songs are removed (“Smell the Roses” and “Comfortably Numb”. Now, for the film, I understand. But for the soundtrack? No excuse to not add it. I’d rather they replace “Refugee Reprise” and “Deja Vu Reprise”, since those tracks weren’t even live tracks. Maybe Roger will release them as extra singles. Overall thoughts: Even tho the full album hasn’t released yet, I’ve basically already listened to it through the film. If you were a fan of Roger’s new interpretation of The Wall. Then I’d think you’ll enjoy this album (or just the few songs at the time of me writing this.) 8/10.
