Reviews

  • It's not an alblum without all the songs

One of his great blues song with a hard rythym "nothin to do but today" is not here. I think that is the best song on the alblum. I'm sure there are many who may agree and disagree with me. However, everyone would still like to have this song available. Why was that one left off? curious

  • Probably Some of Stills' Best Work

In my opinion Stephen Stills 2 is even better than his debut solo album. While it is true you can accuse him of overkill with respect to a few songs in this collection; it speaks to Stills' creative energy that was just bursting at the seams at this point in his career. Although the omission of Change Partners is glaring and very frustrating don't short change yourself by not downloading the other songs available here. My love for this album hasn't faded since 1971. Stills is a powerhouse artist and master. His work will stand the test of time.
  • Overall, An Excellent Effort

In this second solo outing, Stills was still in command of his craft, and seemed to be able successfully create a lot of different moods and textures to show off his depth and breadth of talent. Stills, the aptly named "Captain Manyhands" tended to pile on "production" and "orchestration" which while potent and often times, is quite impressive, does not come off as effectively as it did on his first solo album. "Singin' Call" gets my vote for the best track here that you can download. Note: the occasional distortion you may hear on the recordings that you download is on the source recordings. I originally thought it was the record, so I bought the (remastered) CD which fails (or course) to fix this issue. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 for the occasional distortion on the recording.
  • BLAME THE RECORD COMPANIES

*cough* When a track is unavailable in iTunes, it's because of the record company, NOT because of iTunes. Same with DRM. *cough*

How can this be put up as an "album" when all the songs aren't there? Why isn't "Nothing To Do But Today" on here????

How can Change Partners be missing from this offering (partial album)? This is the kind of stuff that pi$$es me off, and the reason I won't purchase anything from this selection. What's the matter iTunes aren't you raking in enough money hand over fist? Talk about pirating!

Shees, rag on itunes someplace else. This is a great album. Had it 1971 and listen to it today. Sounds great 35 years later too.
