i was 18 in 67-68 this group of indiviuals brought together the sounds of blues for me that still resinate in my head today in my mid 70s! in a class with John Mayall,Pete Greens Fleetwood Mac, Big Brother & Holding Co. Paul Butterfield Blues Band and many many more! such great memories

I was too young to "be there" but hearing this record makes it real in a way that few recorings from that era do. Also, the quality of the recording here is as good as the performances. Can't believe it took me this long to discover it.

Some of best times in my life in 60’s 70’s Cal as a teen eating up change - way beyond the “Fonz” and ROTC. Season of the Witch in a dim car high, high above Saratoga looking at (to be) “Silicon Valley”… the rest of the planet was dragging it out out away.
  • One Of The Great Super Groups

My favorite blues album ever recorded by some incredible artists - one of the 1st “Super Groups.” Conceived in the late 60’s, just as long playing songs began to be played on radio, this may be the epitome of electrified blues. If you like your blues heartfelt and straight-up this album will continue to please for a life time. Like others I have had the vinyl, tape and CD of this album. In my 60’s I still love hearing it as much as I did at 18.

  • A Bluesman

I saw him play ... If you saw him play you understand. Bloomfield made his instrument talk and wail the blues ... He made his guitar sing, made it sound sad, made his axe sound happy, then in an instant, and with no warning, made it bring you to your knees as his guitar screamed and cry the blues like no other. His influencers ranged from Muddy Waters to Bob Dylan. Wow,man! I saw him play ... I've been to the mountain. I saw him play ... and only someone who did see him play would understand. Don't believe me ... listen to Mike play ... It's not the mountain ... but, pretty close. Mike was the best of his time and that is a solid fact. I sincerely hope you enjoy him ...

Purchased this great album 43 years ago (1970) in vinyl, and now very happy to have a modern digital copy. The music is timeless.

Groundbreaking, incredible, fantastic and of course, super were all superlatives describing this great record when it came out in 1968. This was a phenomenal record and is still fresh and listenable today. The first side is Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper headlining a mainly blues and jam creation. The second side features Al and Steven Stills in a more controlled set. Just a great record!
  • better than swell... it's super

This is a fantastic album. The last 4 cuts on the second side would often 'signal the end of the evening's festivities'. You Don't Love Me was a song that stayed in my head, for years. I finally figured what album it came from, thanks to itunes. Last time I checked, Harvey's Tune was the most played song on my itunes library. I guess I've closed a few nights with it, some forty years later. It's all-time!
