  • Best Live Album Ever...Sort of

Every song on this album kicks butt. His banter between songs is classic Ted..Hilarious! If Motor City Madhouse does not motivate you to do something physical, lift weights, sprint until you have a heart attack, hit a heavy bag until your arms fall off, then ummm, you must be dead! Never saw him live, but jeez can you imagine a mosh pit( I know they didn't exist back in '78) with MCM playing, the local hospital would be full. Wanted to give it 4 stars because of the audio quality, but just couldn't.

Politics aside, this is an incredible record. Raw, powerful and FUN. This was Ted at his peak and with a point to prove and it shows. I attended both of the San Antonio, shows represented on this record and they were both shows are captured in all their glory. I highly recommend buying this record, isolating yourself and crank it up. Closest thing to a time machine there is.

This is Ted Nugent at his best and highest point of his musical journey. Burning up the Big Gibson and letting people have it!!!! One of the best live albums ever produced in a time when they really created live albums!!!!!!

Honestly Frampton was better but overall this album is not bad at all the only thing is that it is offensive. Otherwise, music is great hopefully this is remastered one day but not bad at all

Recored between June 1976 & November 1977; the Ted Nugent Band was THEE BAND to see if you were in the mood for high energy rock & roll during that time frame. Nugent’s lung searing vocals, bombastic guitar riffs, and ear splitting solos; were masterfully contained by drummer Cliff Davies; bassist Rob Grange; and guitarist/vocalist Derek St. Holmes. The Motor City Madness that was the Ted Nugent Band was a musical experience enjoyed by millions of concert goers during the greatest concert era of all time. Those fortunate enough to have witnessed the Snake Skinned Cowboys in action will attest that DOUBLE LIVE GONZO is a precious time capsule of a day never to be seen again. Favorite songs include “Just What The Doctor Ordered”; “Motor City Madhouse”; and “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang”. The only disappointment associated with this album (other than that it was a double album & not a triple); was the exclusion of any songs from the “Free For All” album. This was primarily due to a riff between Nugent and Derek St. Holmes, that resulted in St. Holmes leaving the band at the beginning of the “Free For All” recording sessions in 1976; hence no songs from FFA during the time frame “Double Live Gonzo” was recorded. Derek returned to the band for the 77 tour and the “Cat Scratch Fever” album; only to leave again at the conclusion of the subsequent “Double Live Gonzo” Tour. Ted Nugent is much like Bruce Springsteen. You don’t have to respect their ideology; but their passion for rock & roll deserves the respect of music fans everywhere.

Great albumn, worth adding to your library. And to the person who said buy Frampton comes Alive instead , needs his hearing checked. Frampton is not bad but nowhere near the guitar slinger that the Motot City Madman is. Seen him a couple times at JLA on New Years Eve, very cool.

This was Ted at his best and the height of his career! I saw this tour on Dec 1st 1978 at Wings stadium in Kalamazoo Mi and still have the ticket. They killed it and rocked the house down! Drove thru a blizzard to get there and beer was freezing up while waiting in line! When they opened the doors it was a stampede to get in and my feet never touched the ground until i was inside! I mean this concert was killer and i have seen a bunch of them before and since! I have had this album since it came out and wore out a few copies since! Anybody who doesn't like this album needs a lobotomy! Ted is what rock and roll is all about!
