This entire album is like one song to me! I have no idea what she is singing about, but that’s just fine by me!
  • OK really?

I hate to admit, it's incredible. I love guitar rock but Tori is my siren in a way. By the end of 2003, I could not believe it was not nominated for a Grammy. We played it, full blast, heading to the beach in car with 3 yr old son in the back seat. Pure Bliss! Yes, 9-11 is prevalent and felt here. I, who say the Pentagon smouldering in person. It's felt!

...the day this classic came out. My friend and I fell in love with “the new tori album” about one minute into Amber Waves. Since then, it’s never really rotated out of my life. Crazy and Strange and Carbon all remain essential tori songs.

This was the last Tori album I was excited about. It's another concept album but not a bad one. The album is solid and manages to pull off the concept by taking you on a journey.

I can listen to this album, front to back, at any given time and love it all over again. I would love to see the songs that were cut from this album. "Indian Summer" was one of the tracks cut from this album, and I believe it is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. That album was titled "Scarlet's Hidden Treasures" and it is hard to find...

Lyrically-the best album she's ever done! She's described it as a map...every stop is appealing except for a couple. One of my favorite tours was this one!
  • Nothing too memorable here

Many of the pieces grate on me. By contrast, I can't get enough of "From the Choir Girl Hotel."
  • Didn't like it at first - grew on me!

Man, this one takes me back - this entire album reminds me of the summer before I went to college. I didn't like it at first, but the CD always ended up in my car somehow, and before I knew it I was hooked. This is not exactly vintage Tori; more like post 9-11 Tori, a little stunned and feeling older. There's a subtle touch here - I always get the impression that she is suggesting more than she's expressing in some of these songs. One of my craziest memories was flying to NY for the first time and "I Can't See New York" was playing as we landed. I'l never forget that - thank you, Tori.
