One of the finest examples of what a music video ought to be, 1000 Oceans is strongly related to the track without simply being a derivative re-telling of the lyrics. The theme of separation and limited human perspective, presented so well by Tori's floating vocals, is displayed in the video through more literal means. By setting her apart in a glass box, her viewers are seeing her, but seeing her through their own reflection (i.e. bias.) Though she remains the same scene by scene, how is is perceived is drastically different based on circumstances wildly beyond her control. In the end, what seems to be a very simple concept ends up incorporating every bit of the complexity apparent in every human encounter. This video highly enhances the song, which is an extremely rare thing to find. I hope you enjoy it.

Tori Amos is the most OVER-RATED artist of the century. She whines. She pouts. She emotes. Everything but actually SING. She has HORRIBLE pitch. ALL of her songs sound EXACTLY the same. "My life's so hard. My life's so tough. Whoa is me. Waa. Waa. Waa." AWFUL.
  • Good song, good video.

A bit different for Tori (which is saying something,) but it comes across well. One question, though... Copyright 2017? Apparently this is a song from the future!

This song made me cry literally a thousand oceans. The woman at the end, when she exhales and her head tilts down...I lost it i balled for hours.
  • This one brings tears to my eyes!

This song and video has a powerful emotional impact on me. I met Tori at a signing for her book "Piece by Piece" last year and told her about how this song walked with me during a very personal time of loss. She told me (and has re-counted in several interviews) that she was awoken at five in the morning by the spirit of an African woman humming the melody of '1000 Oceans' to her...you'll see her portrayed at the end of this video. Beautifully shot and powerfully delivered!
