Reviews

  • Love meatloaf.

This is an album that tastes good with meatloaf, no onions, plenty of breadcrumbs. And a good dousing of ketchup on top. Together and writing on the wall are to very haunting tunes. Especially after I found out the meat was singing.

  • Mandatory Listening For Rock Guitarists

The guitar tones on this album combined with two of the greatest rock vocalists ever add up to mandatory listening. Ted took Chuck Berry's best licks and improved them. Meatloaf absolutely kills. A must-own album for any aspiring rock guitarist or vocalist. How it's done!
  • severely underrated artist

Because of his public persona many are dismissive of Nugent as a half hearted muscican these days. This is really very unfortunate becuase he is, objectively speaking, one of the seminal figures in heavy metal (listen to early Maiden and NWOBHM and tell me I'm wrong) and one of the most gifted guitar players in rock and roll history. This is his best album in my opinion and "Writing on the Wall" and "Hammerdown" are superbly menacing compositions. It's true, Nugent was never a poetic or especially poignant lyricist but his instrumental prowess is formidable throughout and more than makes up for the sabre rattling and throbbing phallus of his word cudgels.
  • An iconic classic rock album & perhaps Ted's best

Dog Eat Dog, I Love You So, Street Rats and Turn It Up are some of Ted Nugent's finest songs. This expanded album also makes it my favorite Ted Nugent studio album. The Derek sang Street Rats (vs. Meat Loaf) is possibly my favorite Nugent song and the live versions of Free For All and Dog Eat Dog are Double Live Gonzo quality. This is also the album where Ted Nugent pulled away from being a band and instead, sounded like a man that stood alone as one of the best rock artist of his time. His followup, Cat Scratch Fever is neck in neck for bing one of classic rocks finest.
