In a guitar lesson, my amazing teacher showed me her interview thing on ted talks, and I was beyond inspired by her depth and her story to match her bravery. I then listened to the songs: I not only related to them, but there is so much talent and depth in the lyrics that ring so poetically. I legitimately started crying IN MY LESSON while listening to "the bed song". Simply wow. I highly recommend you buy this album. This lady and her bands deserve this more than anything

The lyrics sound kind of like nonsense until you sit down and listen to the symbolism behind the lyrics once you do that the lyrics are pretty sweet you should get this album

As fans of music, we like good music and even more so, excellent albums. This is an excellent album in all facets, particularly a four song swing that includes Smile (Pictures Or It Didn't Happen), The Killing Type, Do It With A Rockstar and Want It Back. Do It With A Rockstar is instantly likeable, a song that shimmers in buzz and distorted pop/post-punk sensibilities with an addictive hook that screams in blatant intemperance to boot. Want It Back leans on a lush and grandiose new romanticist opening and bridge that drives the accompanying rat-a-tat-tat lyrical buckshot. It's very 1980s in feel and theme, something that likely would have generated a ton of airplay with the advent of MTV were it possible to time capsule it back to that era. It's a marvelous song, some may say the best on this album. In fact, Palmer leans heavily on 80's goth and avant-garde new wave/new romanticist structures throughout Theatre Is Evil. The Killing Type is a dark and deeply brooding song in contradiction with it's uptempo melody that was a staple of that era. It's origins are amazing, find it's a synopsis via a web search for the e-mail Palmer sent to NPR. Then buy this record. Play loudly.

This is my first real taste of experience Amanda Palmer lays out in front of you. And what an experience I have just had. I haven't been taken in to another mystical world like this, since the time I accidentally ate too much of the "wrong" kind of mushrooms and stared at a tapestry for way too long. And this was by for a way better trip, man!

Novice or longtime fan, you will love this album. Amanda's sound is so strong it is instantly recognizable from the Dresden days of Yore. Yet there is a new style here that is beyond anything we've heard from her before. Why "Want it Back" or "Do It With A Rockstar" aren't getting radio time they deserve is beyond me. Amazing work.

...OUT OF THE WATER!! Amanda Palmer and her Grand Theft Orchestra will NOT disappoint! I actually bought the CD Via Amanda's Kickstarter and didn't think twice of buying it on vinyl when I saw it! •"Do it with a Rockstar" has more energy than one could even ask of an artist. •for me, right behind 'Rockstar' is The Killing Type, wonderfully laid out song. Amazing, soulful, meaningful lyrics. •ALL •SONGS •ARE •INCREDIBLE! In closing, TWO WORDS: GET IT!

It's all here, Amanda F'in Palmer in her glory, firing her freaky, red-hot art straight into your soul. She channels glam rock, new wave, punk, and the circus. She relives the post-apocalyptic cabaret hangover of the Dresden Dolls. But most of all, she brings a big, crackling thunderburst of Amanda, a real live human being who is beautiful and strange, broken and vulnerable and exactly like you. She is screaming and half-naked. She is covered in jewels. She has lost her wallet. This album is a tour de force from a woman who has seen the future of art. Theatre Is Evil is more than just music, it's Amanda Palmer's love letter to her fans. It will make you smile, it will make you dream, it will make you want to live.

Pick it up, download it on her site, pay what you can, pay for it later, just listen to it. Go to a show if you can. The tour is the real icing on the cake with this album. She will take your breath away, and make you laugh, cry, and dance. She will make you CRANCE. YOU WILL CRANCE. Team Peace Twig forever baby ;)
