I don't know John Rich, (I like my country old) but I can recognize a great soulful version of this classic song made famous by Frank Sintra but written by the incredible Johnny Mercer. I have heard dozens of version of this particular tune and it always hits home, especially if you ever spent any time in bar where you actually felt comfortable and not a pick up spot. Rich's pacing is precise and even if this was take 45, it feels heartfelt, mournful and wise with the weariness of love and the world. Well Done! If you are a fan of this kind of music I stronly reccomend Robbie William's Swing When You're Winning. He tackles the American songbook with verve and a light touch that respects the music.

I'm a newer, but big Frank fan. If you're going to do a collection like this, you can put your personal touches on the songs, but you have to keep the original spirit. (Like Seather turning "I've Got You Under My Skin" into a stalker anthem, yuck.) But when you think about it, "One For My Baby" is as close to country Sinatra as you can get lyrically,so it's only appropiate that a guy like John Rich should do it. It's fabulous, but make sure you have a few adult beverages handy.

John Rich nailed this! He was smooth as silk and really captured the spirit of Sinatra. You can tell that John Rich is a huge Sinatra fan by the way he respected the song. I hope to hear more of this type of music from Rich in the future. And I hope that the younger generation likes what they hear enough to want to hear Sinatra himself.

this is what I look for in a cover he has a strong voice which is perfect for this song and he puts his own touch on the song while still having instrumentals and a voice that go well with this song though u can still here his country accent at someparts but I'm nt complaining thats just part of the cover he gives the song new life with his style but not completely restructreing the song... amazing for being a country singer...

John Rich is a HUGE Sinatra fan and it shows. The care he put into this rendition is touching. He seemed to really care about giving the song and the Man respect. It's beautiful and John's voice never sounded better!

Well, my aunt got me to liking Frank Sinatra and some of his songs. Plus I LLLLLOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE John Rich's singing and with him doing Sinatras song is very well put together. I think that it gives the older version a new twist and that He sounds good singing Sinatras work. (not as good as the man himself though(wink)) Bravo.....
  • Love this song!

I didn't think that country singers could cover Sinatra very well. John Rich does and in a big way. The sound reminds me of the "countrypolitan" music of the 1960s. I guess no matter what genre it is, Sinatra's songs transcend every genre.
