Get rid of Dance!!!

This album should have been an EP, as there are only a few good songs here. Chrissie is so much better than this, probably the worst in her entire musical repertoire.
Chrissy Hynde solo begins here

This where Chrissy solo albums starts and all the rest after.
Having said that-- it's a great solo album

The Pretenders sound more polished with this one. Not to detract from the first two releases, but I think this was their best work. I seem to recall every song being played on the radio making this a hit record.

My Baby, is my favorite song on this album.
Bad Pretenders still better than "good" other artists

This is the re-release of "Get Close" which marked a transitional period for the Pretenders; from seminal new-wave/rock band to pseudo-soul pop. There are a couple of real embarrassments on this album such as "How Much Did You Get" and "Dance" but taken as a whole, there are far more "keepers", such as "Chill Factor" and "Room Full of Mirrors".
This is NOT a new album

Music Man was incorrect in his review. This not a new album, it is simply remastered from 1986. This music should be listened to by young folks because it contains rock basics and real instruments. Chrissie Hynde sang these songs with heart.
This album came out in 1986 for future reference

The Pretenders were one of the most unique bands of all time. Fronted by Chrissie Hynde, who had one of the most unique voices in rock n roll history. While some may be fooled that this is a new album it is not, but a new remastered version of a Pretenders classic. While the Pretenders aren't what the kids are listening to today, the kids should. They blended a fundamental rock n roll sound with the sounds of the new wave eighties to perfection. Give this music a chance. This is rock n roll.
