Super Colossal

Joe S. Plays the guitar with poise and grace and i love the chords he chooses.

My favorite Satriani record since Crystal Planet. I'm a big fan of Joe's slower song's and this record has some very emotional pieces. It takes a great musicain make a huge statement in a few notes, Joe can take you to another galaxie. Made of Tears, A Love Eternal, The Meaning of Love and 10 Words are some of Joe's most beautiful songs. Of course there's enough to rock out to here as well, like A Cool New Way, Crowd Chant, Super Collosal and One Robots Dream. All of Joe's records have something special to look forward to, especially if your a true fan, but this has all kinds of good stuff.

Wait...this is Eminence Front' right ? Why did he name it something else ? Did Townsend collaborate ? Very cool... D.

The only song I want I'm glad I finally heard the whole song I only heard 30 seconds of it because the goal horn goes off!!! *jumps up and high fives the closets person* LET'S GO ISLANDERS!!!!! LETS WIN ANOTHER CUP!

Saw that iTunes was selling it for $5.99. This was too good for me to pass up, and it didn't take long for me to reassured that it was money well spent. A wide range of styles are covered here: fist pumping anthems like "super Colossal" and "Crowd Chant", blues rock tunes ("Just Like Lightnin'" and "It's So Good"), emotional, slower paced songs ("Ten Words" and "Made of Tears"), and the Spanish style intro of "Redshift Riders". The album contains Joe's trademark tone and legato, rapid fire licks. I think he saved the best for last with "Crowd Chant", which sounds like it could be the enterance music for a hockey team. "Theme for a Strange World" was my least favorite, although it may grow on me in time, as is the case for many of Joe's songs. I have only two real vomplaints: Joe didn't really try any new tones, at least not for the main melodies, and some of his solos are a little generic sounding. That being said, even the mediocre solos are miles above your average bedroom guitarist. All in all, Super Colossal isn't especially innovative or groundbreaking but any Joe Saatriani should like it.

Crowd Chant is too good... Love the whole album

As I just said, the only Joe Satriani song that I know of is "Crowd Chant". I know it because the Minnesota Wild use it as their goal song, and boy is it perfect for that use! The whole Xcel Energy Center gets alive when the Wild score a goal and the horn goes off and this song plays! Heck, I just experienced that myself last night when I was at that awesome game last night against the Canucks!
