Like a Rolling Stone (from Winterland)

Well that's a great story to tell, but do your research, Jimi's entire Woodstock performance was filmed, and at no time in the concert did he litterally set his guitar on fire. That was first done at Monterey International Pop Festival which was Jimi's first performance in the U.S. after making his name in Europe. He also set one on fire at the Miami Pop Fest, to which one of his roadies got the charred remains and later gave to Frank Zappa. Dwezil Zappa still has this guitar. And yet another at the Seville Theater in France. The discussion about The Who and Experience as to would follow who did happen, but it was reported by Pete Townsend that Jimi finaly gave way and said, "If I have to follow you guys, I'm gonna pull out all the stops!", then stood up in a metal folding folding chair and began playing the most amazing guitar Pete had ever heard.

After a friendly arguement with The Who, Jimi relinquished and let them play first at Woodstock, where The Who made history by destroying their equipment, probably inspired by the fact that Jimi was going to follow them. Although by literally and figuratively setting his guitar on fire, Hendrix made music history too, and has been inspiring us ever since.

What an amazing cover of an amazing song, by a legendary artist! Way to go, String Theory, on the unbelievable animation too! One of my favorites of all time!
