    ….. but at only 7 and half years old, my biggest preoccupation was the fact that he was wearing red pants. I thought that only Santa Claus wore red pants. It was also the first time that I smelled weed. Maybe that explains it……….

    A great recording of a short-lived rock artist, this set was performed at Gulfstream Race Track in Hallandale, Florida way back in '68. While the recording has some "warts", it appears to be true to form for the era. I remember being in attendance at Gulfstream for my first Hendrix experience. I believe that this is when I was first struck at how different a live performance could be from a studio rendition. I highly recommend this release to any classic rock fan, and particularly to the Hendrix aficianados.

    Neither the sound quality or the performance is as good as you can find on the Winterland set. Still, an OK Hendrix is surely one of the best things fans of classic rock will see released this year.
