Finally, a remix EP that doesn't butcher the original songs!

After downloading this album, I did not listen to it immediately as I prefer to be in the right state of mind when listening to new psychedelic music. So about eight hours after I downloaded this I was in the right state of mind. I had my headphones on and started the album. I was blown away by the sounds I was hearing and the voices pumping through the speakers. When Congratulations played I immediately felt as if I was back at their concert again and started dancing. Siberian Breaks had my head spinning and the beats were perfect. I was surprised when Brian Eno came on and, for a minute, felt as if I were in a concert hall listening to some crazy dub-step type classical music. I recommend this album to anyone who loves MGMT and psychedelia.

What a great take on Congratulations! I want to hear the rest of the album remixed this way! Usually I am all against remixing and for the pure original piece, but this EP is really pushing all the right buttons. "Congratulations", MGMT!

I was super excited when I saw the MGMT was having an EP. Best remixes ever. MGMT is my fav band and I'm very happy. Really recommend it.

The Congratulations remix has a great bassline. it's catchy, but there's something about it that just doesn't mesh with the feel of the original song. The lyrical feel and the feel of the music don't match at all. It's really too bad, because I was looking forward to this album. I give the album 3/5 because the price is right and it's decent listening. nothing memorable though
  • really?

Listen, I am a HUGE MGMT fan. Saw them in concert, loved Oracular, liked most of Congratulations, but what is this? The Congratulations beat is OK, but over all the songs are simply ones that I would "skip" on my iPod. When are we going to get some fresh psychedelica? This was disappointing, sadly.

The orginals of these three songs are some of my favorite songs, so I wasnt so sure that remixing them could be a good thing,. I've been proved wrong. These remixes are beautiful and really single out Andrew's amazing vocals. Although the origanals will always be the best, these are really worth listening to. It's really something beautiful.

Alright, Congratulations was a decent album, but it's time to start releasing some hits like in Oracular Spectacular. Time to Pretend will fall under the all time classics in my book and this EP nonsense is ridiculous. i'm sure all they needed was to make a quick dollar, but it's time to get back to the music.
