Reviews

  • A true album experience

Sad and slow, this album is another banger from mgmt. It might take a few listens, and while it might not reach the consistency and feel of their other records (LDA, Congratulations, and Oracular) it is definitely worth the listen. Some highlights include Mother Nature and Bubblegum Dog (obviously) along with I Wish I Was Joking, Nothing to Declare, and Loss of Life. Another Beautiful Song is Nothing Changes, the longest song on the album. It’s lyrics are great and it breaks into a soothing horn segment which caught me off guard. Also, Phradies Song is a hauntingly beautiful ode to Andrew’s Daughter. Trust me, I understand that this album feels disappointing in some ways, specifically mgmt have always been very upbeat and with this record they trade that in for slower songs that take some time to appreciate. One thing I will say is that these songs don’t really work well on the aux, if you put these bad boys on in the car you might lose aux privileges. However when your by yourself they go hard. Anyways if you don’t appreciate this new sound (PigyBank) try to give it a couple more chances because it might just be the coolest mgmt “Album Experience.”
  • Worth the 6 year wait?

I’d say yes and no for a variety of reasons but mainly the highlights outshine the lowlights, I predict this record will be as polarizing as their self titled record because of the huge success of Congratulations mirroring LDA.

From the group that brought us Electric Feel, I expected more than this boring slow album.

I appreciate good, relaxing, slow music. This is NOT that. Its bad, relaxing, slow music. If you'd like to be bored to death and fall asleep, this is the album for you. Such a dissappointment. I cannot believe the positive reviews on here. Total Garbage.
  • Retro reminiscent of the Beatles

This is very nice take on the more experimental side of the Beatles style from the 70’s. Nothing but love. 🫶🏻
