It took some time to grow on me, but I’d easily consider this my favorite STP album now. Maver might be my favorite song they’ve ever written.
  • CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS!

To my ears, this is probably the band's best album. I had written STP off entirely by the time this release hit the shelves a few years back having felt that they peaked with their sophomore effort, Purple. On a whim, I decided to download this recently and haven't stopped listening to it since. The band sounds re energized here.

One of greatest American rock bands in history! Killer live act too... These guys can play.

Don't get me wrong, I love U2....but not when STP is trying to be them. Is this is not the good 90s grunge they are known for.
  • Nothing Memorable

Take a Load Off is the only good tune on the album. Disappointing in that I love this band. Cinnamon is a terrible song.

Third best STP album! I luv it! 1. Purple (Best overall album! Every single song on this album is awesome! 2. Core (Every STP fan owns this album! Most songs are classic STP stuff I grew up listening to!) 3. Stone Temple Pilots (This album is freakin spectacular and soooo underrated! I love the groovy, catchy, rythems and guitar solos that only STP can dish out!) 4. No.4 (A pretty solid album and very underrated! Hits include: Down, Heaven and Hot Rods, Pruno, Sour Girl, No Way Out and I Got You) 5. Shangri-La-Di-Da (Crazy album! Most fans consider this the worst album, but I don't think it is. Its got some cool experimental songs such as Dumb Love, Coma, Days of the Week, and Too Cool Queenie!) 6. Tiny Music From the Vatican Gift Shop (the reason its my least favorite album is cuz it only has a few good songs: big bang baby, seven caged tigers, and trippin on a hole in a paper heart, and i just don't like Weiland's vocals that much on this album.)

No, this is not another Core or Purple, but that doesn't make it a bad album. In fact, if anything, this might be the most consistant STP album to date. There really isn't a weak link on the entire album, although a couple of the songs lag behind the others. Another aspect that stands out is the diversity of the songs on the album. You've got your harder rockers like "Huckleberry Crumble" and "Hazy Daze", and more melodic tracks such as "First Kiss on Mars" and "Maver". An overall well done album by seasoned band. A+.
  • You really want STP to make a Core record again?

I'm a long time fan of Weiland and STP. The thing that I really appreciated about STP is that they went from making the edgy Core to the extremely experimental and psychedelic Tiny Music album. The latter is a mature progression from their more derivative beginnings. These guys are amazing musicians and Weiland is arguably one of the best rock/pop singers of my generation. Folks who criticize this record for sounding more sixties and less classic STP (whatever that is) obviously don't respect the artist's creative license. I'm really happy that STP continues to lose those parts of their fan base that don't "Dare if You Dare". I appreciate that STP continues to unabashedly make music that is new and exciting for them. F#$k fans that only want to hear a certain kind of you.
  • Boring.!!

Not what I was Expecting, Fast as I can and Take a load off are the only decent songs. Alice in Chains still have that 90's sound Why not STP?
  • I love STP but...

I really want Velvet Revolver back. VR had its failings but it felt like a current and exciting band, this album just feels like STP re-treading old ground because it worked in the past.
