I like to think I discovered FOW - but I didn't. I just bought this first album way back in 2004...and I've never looked back. People describe them as power-pop rockers which, if we're going to pidgeon-hole them, is as good a description as I've heard. But labelling them almost does them a dis-service because their sound is just so unique. You could say that they sound like [insert band name here] but you'd be wrong, because they don't. They have a certian clarity to their music, with superb story-telling and an almost effortless harmony that oozes from your speakers. It's like melted butter over a well-grilled lobster tail. That's not to say that they are soft either - listen to Survival Car, check out the frenetic energy, the pounding guitar and the deliberate feedback. That's not a sound that oozes, that's a sound that gets in your face and demands that you listen. If you like pop, rock, jazz, funk, 60's, 70's 80's or pretty much every other genre of music out there, there is a great chance that you will love this album. Buy it soon.

Although I am obsessed with several songs on this album, it is not as consistently awesome as the next few albums by Fountains of Wayne. However, the MUST OWNS are Radiation Vibe Leave the Biker Survival Car Then again, the whole album is good and any true FoW fan will enjoy. I grew up on this and I love it. Fountains of Wayne stand out among the many bands in this genre because of their clever yet relatable lyrics, and instinctively perfect music to match.

This is not my favorite Fountains of Wayne album, but it IS one of my favorite albums ever. I loved a couple of songs from the first moment I listened to it, but the album has continually grown on me since then. I love every song on this album. I could listen to "Radiation Vibe" 50 times a day, everyday, and never get sick of it. Listening to the intro of "I've Got A Flair" always makes me feel good. I know every word to every song. I know this album like the back of my hand. I will never get tired of listening to it, and I've been listening to it since I bought it 10 years ago. Buy this now. This is what music is supposed to sound like.

The thing about Fountains of Wayne is that when you listen to this album you feel like you are in on a musical secret. How can music be this good and not be everywhere? The answer is that it is everywhere... except radio. So, feel free to enjoy at your own pace. On their debut album FOW puts together a collection of songs that will be in your head for days with just one listen. The difference between the best and worst song on this album is absolutely paper thin. Radiation Vibe is a feel good song that is everything good about pop music and a perfect way to start. Leave the Biker is also a very good song but they all are so it's hard to really say what the best songs are, so I will just tell you my personal favorites- Radiation Vibe, Sink to the Bottom, Survival Car, Barbara H., Leave the Biker and Please Don't Rock Me Tonight. The other songs aren't far behind, which is why, of course, I give this album five stars.

yet another incredible album from the best band ever. all these songs are really good, but my fave is "She's Got A Problem." It proves that Fountains of Wayne really knows how to write good choruses.
