The best "chill out" album I've ever heard. Been listening to this for 4 years now and it still hasn't gotten old. A real masterpiece! Too bad his newer stuff isn't as good as this.

I first started listening to Jon Hopkins about a year ago and recently purchased his new album Insides which I enjoyed, a friend gave me his Opalescent CD and i was floored. I am not a big or even casual fan of ambient/new age/chill music but this album defies identification. It's simply beautiful as other reviewers have put it. I love listening to it on a slow day with nothing to do. One of the very few albums i own that has me enjoying every track on it. I highly recommend this one, a very good addition to anyones music collection.

Jon Hopkins is amazing. i saw him with Coldplay and I wasn't sure on what to think. Then i bought this cd and it blew my mind. It is a must buy!!!!

This disc has been with me through 3 houses, 3 jobs, 2 relocations...broke, comfortable, broke again. The point of all this is that this is quintessential mood music, it takes you far away from all the garbage that often consumes our lives. It brings me back to basics...that we are all living beings on this planet and all that REALLY matters is making the most out of our time here...because it goes fast. Lofty review? Perhaps, but this disc is just one of those that stays with me.
