  • Like Being At A Private Concert

Wildwood Springs is an old resort dating back to the 1920's located in the Missouri Ozark hills. It is an intimate venue with the stage set up in the lobby area. What a great place to experience America live! It's like everyone has a back stage pass to his or her own private concert. With seating for probably no more than 150 - 200 people, America is rich and vibrant in this setting. This is an awesome acoustical album recorded at Wildwood Springs. I haven't seen them live in almost 30 years and this concert was a great experience. America is back at Wildwood Springs this fall (2009), and if you're a fan, it's worth the trip to see a great performance and be able to meet & talk with them after the concert.

...I was around (as a kid) for the orignial America in the 70's and I always contend they're really missing Dan Peek's distinctive third harmony. I always miss it whenever I hear America ever since he left. Having said that, this is a great set of songs and one of their better live performances.

High hopes and this, thank goodness for I-Tunes, just like their last album several good cuts, and the rest forgettable. I truely believed they recheaded their peak working with George Martin, after that it has been downward spiral and this collection is just continued proof they are living on their past. To bad, I really would like to see this group have some commerical success again.
  • Vintage America Live in Concert, with a Few Surprises...

America's Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell offer an excellent acoustic set from Wildwood Springs that has all of the cuts from their standard in-concert playlist but adds in a few surprises. You'll find "Once Chance," "Ride On" and an abbreviated version of "Chasin' the Rainbow" from America's fairly recent (and outstanding) studio recording "Here & Now," along with some album cuts ("All My Life" from the "Silent Letter" LP; "Submarine Ladies" from the "Hat Trick" album; "Baby It's Up to You" from "Holiday" among the best). If you've seen America live in concert in recent years, you'll recognize the renditions of these classic and newer tunes.... and enjoy them all over again.
