  • Sounds like a bunch of demos

Really poor songs that sound like they were recorded on a cheap 4 track. Embarrassing.

  • Good Album Not Given a Chance in Today's Market

Overall a good album, not a great one, but it has it's moments that rock. Great songs (5 stars): Wishful Thinkin, Home (Bret's story), and Rock Star. Rocking (not great, 4 Stars): Stupid, Stoned and Dumb (Alice Cooper sarcasm to it), Squeeze Box, Devil Woman (LA Woman influence lyrically?) & Emperor's New Clothes. I play CD as 12 songs and drop CC's version of Home or 10 songs w/no CC songs for Poison purists. It's good (CC's Home) but I don't want to hear the same song/chorus two times in a row. Cons: Some people say it's not produced all that well, it's not over-produced. It was gutsy to release an album in today's market. Pre-Nirvana this would have gone gold w/some rotation/airplay.
  • A shadow of their former selves...

Where to start--at least it's original music (mostly). That's the good. The bad--the rest of it. "Emporer's New Clothes" is the best track on here--but only for its wit. This album just doesn't cut it when compared to their past efforts. It feels like they've lost "the touch" and can't come up with good stuff any more.
  • Better than people give it credit for.

Poison did some new things on this album and even had a few more writers on it, and i think it does good. songs like Wishful Thinkin', and Rock Star really show how hard it is to not just break into the business but stay in the business. and then the man CC Deville takes the microphone for a few more tracks and blows me out of the water. Good album, next time don't tale so long for a release.

80'S METAL/HAIR METAL WAS SO AWESOME AND I HATE IT THAT SO MANY METAL BANDS HAVE BEEN FORCED TO ABANDON IT.
