I've owned this album in one form or another since it was released in 1988. It is my favorite album of all time, cerebral and relaxing, I can think of no other album I'd want to have on a long road trip, a deserted island. Simply a Classic!!!!

I first brought this album on cassette, played it until it could no longer play. Then,I brought it on CD and now I'm buying it through iTunes for my library. What Stanley did with Charles Mingus's Goodbye Porkpie Hat, shows you the depth of genius this musican has. His talent is nothing short of remarkable! Also, the duet he did with the late Gregory Hines on this album, to me, is a jazz classic! Combining tap and bass into a cool groove, wow! I could go on and on, so if you like bass or contemporary jazz, this is one alblum you need in your collection.

I don't know a single bassist that doesn't own this album, and for good reason: it's epic and is the bible for bassists.

Cosmic!!!! This album has a great atmosphere to it. Clarke's work during the Mid 80's was profound to say the least. This album explores the outer reaches and takes you places.
