I stumbled across this soundtrack while desperately searching for the ORIGINAL version of Tangerine Dream’s “Love on A Real Train.” Apparently purchasing the full Gangsterdam soundtrack is the only way to get it unless I pay an upwards of $50 for a used Risky Business soundtrack cd off the internet. That being said, when I saw the price of this album and realized that it was Rob who did the score (he also did the music for Maniac which is one of my all time favorite synth scores), it seemed like a safe investment. In my opinion, purchasing the entire soundtrack was worth it for the Tangerine Dream song and for Rob’s work. His effort here is not nearly as standout as what he turned out for Maniac, but it is still solid! My only complaint about the soundtrack is that the songs from major artists are sort of stuck in among the score rather than being placed together at the end, which I think would have flowed better. Especially since I did not like any of those tracks except Free Bird. Even if I did enjoy those songs, putting them in the middle of the score disrupts the flow. Anyway, if you’re looking to purchase for Love on A Real Train but you’re apprehensive, I’d say the fee is worth the song and the score by Rob.
