The only song I was interested in buying was "The Well-Tempered Clavier", only here it's "Predule and Fugue No. 1, unless I messed something up. Anyways, I am just a kid, so I don't really take interest in music like this, though a lot of it is classic. So the only reason I was drawn to this was because of the new awesome TV show, "The Mentalist", used it in their finale to finish things up, and I really loved it. So I poked around and finally got it, and it's a very beautiful song, highly recommended. Bach truly was incredible, and he lives on through the fantastic music he writes. I might just have to look around for somre more classic stuff like this... ;P

Bach, one word, genious. if you look at some of backs original work, there are no revisions, scribbles, or mess ups. Back new what he wanted out of his music. where as you look at beethoven ( Who is still more of a musical prodigy than anyone ever) his orginal writings are very messy and scratched out. beethoven took several attemps to make his music perfect. Bach i think is more of a pacifist when it comes to his orchestras. where beethoven is in your face from the beginning.
  • The best?

First I make clear that JS Bach is one of, if not my favorite composer. However, this is a travesty. When would people learn to tell the difference between the "best" and the "most popular"? This has bits and pieces of random works. The very first doesn't even include the fugue, which IS the best of the work. Lovely works? Yes. Very well know? No doubt. The Best? Ha! According to the commitee of easy listening?

hahaha...okay, you have to laugh at the first review. you know, the person who trashed this album? i'm sure this person either a) really despises classical music or b) meant it as a joke. the "gi-tar solos" and "i hope he's dead"? well person who wrote the first review, i think you're safe in thinking that the man who was born in 1685 is dead...unless he's 321 years old...hey- you never know. haha but seriously- i thought this was a great album. i consider myself to be an accomplished pianist and singer, and have both played and sung his works. they are amazing, and i think this does him fair justice. not the best i've ever seen, but quite good. definitely worth checking out- rock to bach! xox
  • Good introduction to Bach...

...but not for connoisseurs. This is indeed a greatest hits album, and the music is well performed. It is not my favorite Bach album however, because much of the music is taken out of context which can ruin a piece. However, if you don't feel the need to listen to the entire concerto to enjoy an allegro piece, then by all means--this is the album for you. I would recommend the full Brandenburg Concerto set by the Berliner Philharmoniker, or if you really enjoy this one perhaps "Bach's Adagios" (I forget who produces it.). Enjoy!
  • Among the best of all time

Bach was quite simply one of the best composers of all time. This album very much proves the point. If you enjoy classical music, or for that matter any music, you will very likely enjoy and appreciate this. It's that good.
  • Very Good.

This is the greatest album that i have ever heard! The music that this composer makes is an inspirational piece of delicate yet strong feel to the music that Bach creates. I myself won 2 state piano conpetetion, so I know music. This is the best i've heard since last year, other than my teacher.
  • this is the worst album ever !!!!!

if you don't know bach, you don't know hip hop, rock, metal, and everything else, because him and a few others (mozart) made music what it is today. I am a big heavy metal fan, yet I have bach on my iPod. Why, you say? Well, Bach was the greatest. Greater than any band nowadays, and I mean ANY band. For those about to rock to bach, we salute you.
