While those of us who collect Ivan Lins under almost any genre are always to find a new effort, this use of the lush Metropole Orchestra makes the collection of Lins "standards" refreshing. I still think Lins sounds best with his smaller grouping, I was delighted to hear "Daquilo Que Ei Sui" so eloquently arranged here. "O Fado" has the purity of the Jobim with Orchestra vocals that showed more soul than fluff. Lest you get bored with praises, I'll just let his marvelous "Ai,Ai,Ai.." and "lua Soberana" speak for themselves, and I'll just tap my feet while you ponder this disc's value...but you won't regret this one. For me it was close enough to a grand slam, that I could not believe anyone has not reviewed this before. BTW, it's a real bargain!
