It's a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is usually too short to qualify as a full studio album. or LP (Long Play). Great album from the 80's.

Great album by Morris. I've this album on vinyl and CD. The 12" singles for the Oak Tree, Love Sign, The Color Of Success and the 45 rpm singles with instrumental tracks of The Character and The Color Of Success give a true sense of the genius and style of Morris Day.

No, don't beware, B. WARE! That was the pseudonym for Morris's bodyguard when they stayed at the Sheraton in Madison on this tour. I was a bellman and had to take B. Ware to the bank. The local radio station, WORT, was playing this in it's entirety, we cranked it up to full volume and rocked to the bank! It got me an all access pass to any show I wanted to see on the tour!! I also saw Morris come out of the bus the night before, dressed to thrill, as usual. He did a quick glance around, then his wild laugh and bounded through the door!
  • Great Ambitious Time Capsule!

Morris's ego was on 11 on the dial. One of my favorites is The Character because with this song, besides being really Funky and so cool and atmospheric with its swishing synths and hard Funk drum beats, really is a song about his whole persona. He comes clean, hey, its just a character what you see. He made it up in the 'hood, but at the same time its a big part of who he is. Morris Day - the Character wasnt created in a conference room with marketing teams like todays little "artists" in pop are. He was The Character way before they magnified it for the big screen, before it was blown out of proportion and he's just laying out there that to U, its a Character. But in my view, its more real than a lot of other characters you come across in popular music. A great ambitious first solo album, a time capsule of that mid 80's R&B funk pop that nearly changed it all!
