I've followed EC from his stint in the Yardbirds ... to Mayall ... Delanny ... his solo career ... and so on ... around 9 or 10 concerts. To me, personally, it's not the lyrics ... It's his superb and amazing excellence of his guitar work ... He's, without question or debate, mastered his guitar and easily adapts to any style necessary to perform whatever piece he's chosen to play. This album shows the skill of a master at his craft. Did Clapton become 'lax or lazy' with this album? I don't think so ... listen more closely ... It's Clapton ... so enjoy.
  • Listen to some of his Blues, Unplugged and drop it down on one level, and raise it up on another.

Covers of some songs and some of his own with some great Musicians adding into the work. Has he gotten better? I think he's expanded his abilities. Abilities that he's always had, but that he's exploring (or maybe just sharing now.) in his older years. Being 46 I've been listening to his music since I first heard him playing and singing. All I can say, is thank's Eric for all of the pleasures I've had listening to (and experimenting I did with my own guitars until I was wounded in the military) but you'll be missing out if you like his music and don't get this album.
  • Clapton still has it

Like others who grew up on EC's guitar work, I was a little surprised at this latest collection - but just keep listening. It grows on you and now I wish I had more like "Autumn Leaves"
  • Sorry - Not this time.

I think a guy who has been everywhere and back with his history has the right to make a record like this and it pays off! Great guitar tone through out and respectful to the music that influenced him in his roots!
  • its ok for his age
