I have listened to Rachmaninov's piano concertos performed many times by many soloists, but I must say that Simon Trpceski renders the pieces featured on this album with such brilliance, it made me question whether I had truly heard them before. I was driving to work the other day and the classical music station I usually listen to featured the alla breve movement of the 3rd concerto from this album and I almost had to pull over, so intense were the emotions I felt. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic was also magnificent in their accompaniment. As a pianist, it is one thing to see the notes on the music and play, and something quite different to bring the music alive with such energy as these performers do. I was ecstatic to see it available on iTunes. Bravo! and thank you! These recordings have replaced my previous selections of Rachmaninov on my playlist.

OMG! This IS the most beautiful piano piece I have aver heard in the history of my life! Rachmaninoff, I think, is the best classical composer/pianist ever. His 2nd concerto is definitely the highlight of his works but also his Variations on a theme by Paganini is also magnificent. If I got the chance to meet one famous person and spend a year with him/her, I would choose him. I am currently working on his 2nd concerto and his Variations on Paganini. MAGNIFICENT! MAGNIFICENT! MAGNIFICENT!! :-)
