Reviews

  • Skeptical, but still a fan

I was skeptical at first because of absolutely falling in love with the Avalon sound from the first 2 albums with the 'original' 4 members. The addition of Cheri Adams was brilliant. Her voice was and still is amazing. I was very very upset when she left; something was definitely suspicious about her departure. Nothing SHE did.....it was a bone-head move by the 'suits'. I DID NOT like other vocals AT ALL, but after listening to this album, I was able to endure it ONLY because Janna Long was still in the vocal mix. This IS a very high quality production.

I bought Alive first which is probably my favorite song on this album, and went on to buy the whole thing! I love Avalon and always have, this album is a departure from their previous ones but it still ranks very very high on my list!!
  • Just Not the Same...

I have absolutely loved Avalon from the beginning, but this just isn't them anymore. I agree with a previous reviewer, that they need to come up with a different name. It isn't right to call this by the same band name when they are completely different, not even the same singers. They have beautiful voices and good lyrics, but I'm sorry, this is NOT Avalon.

Having been an Avalon fan for the past year or two, I own quite a few albums and have loved every single song. While Reborn is a bit edgier than past albums such as Another Time, Another Place or Oxygen, it is not bad. The music is clean, fresh, and sharp--and Avalon's vocals are, as always, flawless. California, Destined, Fragile, and Stay are beautiful--but then so is every other song on the album. My personal favorite is California, because I truly live "across the desert to the sea, a million miles away from somewhere I don't know". The first time I heard California I cried--I am a missionary in Egypt and really miss my home in the United States. I just want to thank Avalon for giving me something uplifting to listen to. Bravo!

  • Long Live Janna, Michael, Cherrie, & Jody!

Every since Cherrie and Michael left, Avalon has never been as good. Don't believe me? Just listen to Oxygen, Speachless, The Glory, Jesus, Born on This Day, and We Are the Reason. Then I think you will agree. I have also heard Avalon live 3 times and they were best live before the above members left.
  • Different sound...some noteworthy songs.

This is good but I miss the old style of Avalon...the ballads and the powerful voices. Why does everyone in this genre of music think they need to go alternative? Point of Grace did it and then realized it didn't work and went back to their roots. There's a few really good songs on here, worth the listen. Just miss the old Avalon.
  • Best Avalon album yet!

This is a different sound for them, and it works tremendously well. I was worried when they said it was going to have more of a rock feel, (I fell in love with "Stand" in five seconds, literally) but they did a great job. They managed to update their style without sacrificing their uniqueness and sounding like everyone else. Amy and Jeremi Richardson fit in seamlessly. It's a great new start for Avalon and I can't wait to hear their next album! Keep it up guys!

This album is soooo NOT what I thought Avalon's sound truly was like. Their old R&B sound really made they stand out from all the rest. It was not any typical R&B group, It was a holy sent blessing that touched so many people. That said, God's praise and love for him does still shine in this album. Any group and song for the Lord is worth hearing. PLEASE PLEASE, make a album like you once did Avalon. I miss sharing your old OUTSTANDING music and talent to bless my family and friends. This new sounded really does not fit anyone I know. Still Love you, just miss the good old days. O and Jody, please come back!!! Well...only if God want you too.
