Pop album by numbers

This album is so stereotypically pop that it's like the paint by numbers version of a pop album. This is more fake, prepackaged, and emotionally detached of an album than In This Skin was. And that's saying something, because that wasn't the deepest effort either.
There's just not a lot of self and soul here. You have to wonder how much of this was actually from Jessica Simpson. Not the instruments for certain. Not in playing or deciding on the sound. More than likely at least 85% of the lyrics were outsourced. And it even sounds like most of the vocals are not just genuinely and untouched Jessica Simpson. She's like the Queen of England - just a figuredhead. Heck, even one of her two best songs on the album is only tolerable because it was completely co-opted and made into a far inferior cover. It's not as hard to just sing other's songs that are already a hit. Only the song Swing With Me shows even a slight hint of genuine feeling and inspiration.

Such a fun album. My favorite version of (you spin me round) it's sexy and fun to dance to.

Not good, some songs were ok, some were awful. IN THIS SKIN was bearable. Here's my review.
1. A Public Affair - Unbelieveably catchy, good beat and vibe. Awful vocals. Very much like Madonna's early music. Sort of like a Madge rip-off. - 7/10.
2. You Spin Me Round - Awful cover. 80's style. Ok verses. Awful production, awful vocals. Good vibe. 4/10.
3. B.O.Y. - Annoying and has no rythmn. Repitition takes over with this song. Again, awful vocals. - 1.5/10.
4. If You Were Mine - A total rip off of Madonna's Holiday and Janet's When I Think of You. 80's style, but she doesn't pull it off at all. - .5/10
5. Walking Round In a Circle - Annoying and weird. Chorus is ok, not awful. Ok lyrics. A tad bit better vocals. - 2/10.
6. The Lover In Me - Some 80's song rip off, yet again. Awful vocals, yet again. Not awful overall, but not great. - 4/10.
7. Swing With Me - Awful, nothing good about this. AWFUL vocals on the chorus. 0/10.
8. Push Your Tush - Country and awful. Again, awful vocals. Awful everything. - 0/10.
9. Back to You - Just when the album seems to be full of awful tracks not worth reviewing, you hear an OK song. A good ballad, but with awful lyrics. 5/10.
10. Between You & I - Fail at a ballad, awful vocals. Boring. Too uninteresting. 1/10.
11. I Don't Want to Care - Funky, RnB-ish. Not pulled off by Jessica, but not AS awful as most of the other songs. - 2/10.
12. Fired Up - One of the bearable songs on this album. Hook is amazingly catchy. Chorus has better vocals, and an amazing beat. "Huh, huh, watch out its gonna blow" is the best part. - 6/10.
13. Let Him Fly - Country song on an 80's style pop album. Awful vocals, awful everything, but the lyrics are OK. - 3/10.
14. I Belong to Me - Another bearable song. Good lyrics. Good vibe, rythmn. Not great, but not as awful as the rest of the album. - 5/10.
Strongest points: A Public Affair, Fired Up, and I Belong to Me. Weakest points: The rest of the entire album. Awful. I would give it a 1/5 star.

She can do all genres, she has a brilliant range and wonderful personality. It really shines in this cd. I really love the song 'I Belong to Me', and 'I Don't Wanna Care' Very touching. She delivers everytime. Recentley I have bonded with this album, I have struggled with some emotions the past few weeks; this cd has helped me overlook the pain. It helped me cry the tears needed, it helped me laugh the laughter, and it helped me see the beauty of life again. It showed me that I am ready to allow my partner to fully Love me. In result, this has made this my top favorite Jessica Simpson album. We can't get enough we want more! 5 stars!
