  • Music Is Love (and Joan Osborne is a disciple!)

Very, very few voices in contemporary music awaken in me the possibilities of humanity. While many are strong & vibrant, they often have no roots (Christina Aguilera comes to mind, or hell Kelly Clarkson), while others seem to be mere interpretations of other voices (Crystal Bowersox). Joan Osborne's voice carries not only her journey (reluctant pop star, single mother, openly bisexual), but reflects the journeys of so many souls, past & present. This is the reason she can effortlessly sing with The Dead, The Funk Brothers, and even Cheap Trick doing Sgt. Pepper's. This is because Joan finds herself in the song, whether she wrote it or not. She's just that goddamn good! Simply the best singer in the business today.

The first time I heard 'Cathedrals' I immediately asked those around me "Who is that? And why haven't I heard this song before?" It is, so far, the best song I have heard in 2010. I recommend it to anyone! Arthur Eaton

  • Love Cathedrals? Go Buy the writers albums- Jay Clifford

Cathedrals was written by Jay Clifford back in in the late winter / early spring of 1998 while he was collaborating with other folk artists to in the brilliant band- Jump Little Children. Since the bands demise he has since released a solo record with equally brilliant songs. Cathedrals was a single for them that fairly well in the Atlanta market and since she didn't write- it wouldn't be the first choice for a single. There's nothing really in it for her except more sales.

She sings Cathedrals well, but it is nothing compared to Jay Clifford's voice and Jump Little Children. By the way. Jump is the band that wrote the song, so don't be confused--Cathedrals by Joan is a cover. The End.
  • It's good, but it's a remake...

As much as I like Joan's version of Cathedrals, everyone who likes this song should definitely check out the original version by Jump (or Jump, Little Children.)
  • A gifted singer's masterpiece

A great selection of well-crafted songs, performed by an exceptional vocalist, with a terrific supporting band. Joan's voice has never sounded better, and the material has never been more suited for her than on this album. Simply outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable.

I have every cd Joan ever made. I was delighted to hear that she came out with another one. I can be anywhere in the world and if I hear her song playing I just stop and listen and find I become at peace with myself and the world around me. There is not one song on this cd that I do not find enjoyable. I will be playing this album over and over as I do with all her other albums. It doesn't matter that she is singing about New york and I live in California--after 9/11 New York will always have a piece of all of our hearts and Joan just makes us remember a little "Light of This World" wherever we live.
  • Single please??
