If you listen to cursive then you'll probobly like this album. The songs are on the soft side. Alot like Into The Fold from Happy Hollow. If you are skeptical about the album buy Inmates or You're no Fool.
  • 5 stars don't mean much, but....

This album is really solid. It's got excellent tracks up and down. I know everyone votes five stars for any album, but this one is great work. Don't buy just one song, though. The whole album works well together.

Tim Kasher is a magician. This is another reason to expand your Saddle Creek collection. (If you love this buy Cursive too!)

since the release of this album and I know this is one of those unique albums because I have not grown tired of it one bit. I just wish I could of gotten the one with the extra acoustic cd. Buy this album. You will be anything but let down.

When I first heard this album I didn't know what it was. It was laying in the backseat of my car as I drove to school and I put it in for a spin out of curiousity. Suddenly the first notes of 'Album of the Year' are played and I'm hooked. I followed through the song listening to it like one would read a novel or watch a movie. Stories unfolded as I got through the first three tracks. I'll be honest, the first three tracks were all I listened to for all of March and April, they were too good to move onto the others. Come May I moved unto the other tracks. It took some time, but yes, I have decided that this is the best Album of 2004. Just because I say something so blatantly however, don't immediatly turn away from the album. Listen to it and it will grow. It may take a little time, but you will fall in love with it. Album of the Year will jump out at you instantly and hook you as a song, but it will grow slowly as an album. Each song is a folky rendition of a love tale, delivered in the manor that has made artists such as Bright Eyes and Dylan so successful. Tim Kasher has incredible arrangements, hooky melodies, incredible production values, and cleanly layered insturmentation. Each song tells the story of his loss of love through the months starting with April and ending in March of the next year. Personally, my favorite is probably You're Not You, but to justify which song is best maybe entirely impossible. Please buy this album, it is incredible.

I was a huge Cursive fan when I bought this and soon realized that I'm just a Tim Kasher fan. Everything he writes is amazing, and these songs prove he has an ability to craft beautiful songs with this side project. "Notes in his pockets" is the crossover tune if you want to ween yourself off of the Ugly Organ for a little while. A must have for anyone who likes melodic, heartfelt music.

Oh my, how a woman can twist a man into a poet. An alluring and novel-like album.
