Jani Lane was so much more than just the “cherry pie guy”. he once said how much he hated that song. this album was supposed to be called, ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’, and deservingly should have been. such a great singer and songwriter; no doubt one of the best in his era. rest easy, Jani.

What’s the difference between this and WAP. They are both included in my list. Outstanding

Leave it to a record company to build the primary marketing focus on the worst song on the album. I was 20 at the time and I thought Warrant was a joke. The fact is they were a solid band that became characterized by a couple of singles. I’ve come to enjoy the rest of this album a lot recently. The songs work great when I put together a classic rock mix. Also, Uncle Toms Cabin is a classic!

Despite the lack of depth this is a very enjoyable record with no bad songs on it at all. Its a great rocker just heavy enough to pack a punch but just light enough to sing along to as a pop record. Jani Lane was a gifted songwriter who had he been able to crack into fame a littler earlier in the decade I believe would have produced some really amazing music. Unfortunately the bands time in the limelight was cut short with the end of the hair band era (as well as Jani's substance abuse). Truth is Jani could write circles around the vast majority of the guys writing rock tunes in that era. Cherry Pie is a fun and highly entertaining record that still sounds great after many listenings.
  • Warrant is Timeless!

I remember seeing Warrant in concert & they were Phenomenal! This was before anyone, including me, even knew who they were! The first time I saw them, was when they opened for Bon Jovi in, in the early to mid 1990's. They were Fantastic! I loved them so much, that I bought their cassette tape on the way out of the stadium! Hopefully, some of you still remember what cassette tapes are, Lol! Years later, when they came out with their second album, they went on tour again. Only this time, they were the headliners! I was fortunate enough to see them again & they were, once again, Fantastic! It's very rare for a Rock 'n' Roll Band to sound like the album. But, Warrant did! And this, is without a doubt, my favorite Warrant album! 5 Stars!

If you like sexy hard rock music in the same mold as Whitesnake, for example, Cherry Pie is a perfect fit for your iPod. The song titles and lyrics are goofy, but the musicianship displayed in the, guitar playing, vocals, and drums mesh perfectly. The mental picture of Bobbie Brown in the "Cherry Pie" video sticks with you throughout the entire album. F.U.N.
  • Antislavery narrative (?)

Uncle Tom’s Cabin is not an "anti - slavery narrative", but a song about a cover up murder at Louisiana Bayou!

Say what you will about the big hairdo's, leather pants, and makeup but that was the 80's. I don't think Jani Lane ever got the credit he deserved. Beneath the influence of the era was a great song writer with arguably one of the best voices of that time. Cherry Pie was a good testament to that. You had the fun tongue-n-cheek anthem (Cherry Pie), the hard rockin' gem (Uncle Tom's Cabin), and the heartfelt, elaborately arranged ballad (I Saw Red).

..."These were the good ol' days" and all that nonsense. This is an album of meaningless pop rock with no more substance than the music coming out today. Basic formulaic "rock" music. And for the record, the now-deceased lead singer of Warrant hated this album, and the song, and he thought it was garbage. And I concur
