It's so good to hear her voice.

Shawn is one of the very few artists that I will purchase a complete album from instead of just cherry pick. She consistently delivers very beautiful, soul-stirring music. I lost quite a lot of hearing a few years back and one of the things I really, really miss is hearing her music as fully and richly in the way that I know that it is.
Like Fat City, every song is a gem!!!

This is a tremendous album with all of the power of Fat City and the raw blue undertones of Sunny Came Home. She is truly a kindred spirit in music. She even pays tribute to another great artist with her final song Wild Country; a song by Chris Whitley whom passed away in 2005 of lung cancer and played the National Steel guitar on Set the Prairie on Fire.
She continues to make great music and this album is worth every penny. There are no head scratchers here. mattman

Love Shawn Colvin! Her voice is as perfect as always but the content is still totally fresh and new.

A body of work that is rare and special. Beautifully delivered and a pleasure to listen to...over and over again.
The lyrics are gross, but the beat and voice rules!

I never heard any of these songs before today, I just saw the lyrics and thought, this sounds awful. But when I came over here to hear the words, I nearly broke my jaw. She sounded really good! I was actually impressed. But the words stink, so that's why I gave it 3 stars.

Musically, this is not a challenging record for Colvin. It occupies much of the same territory as her previous work, and lyrically, it does not have the edginess of her fine "A Few Small Repairs," as Colvin's bite has lost it's sharpness. However, this is a much more satisfying and interesting record than "Whole New You" and "Cover Girl." She's in good voice and her acoustic guitar gets more airtime here than it has in a long while. Thoroughly enjoyable, with some nice additions in the form of Cohn and Griffin, and a few country touches with slide guitar and fiddle. Even more interesting is her cover of "Crazy," available on iTunes as a single. Excellent rendition that covers ground not covered by Gnarls Barkley, with fantastic guitar playing and a voice that hasn't sounded this good to this listener, ever.

I have been a fan of Shawn Colvin for the past several years. She has contiually released
great works of music. On These Four Walls she returns to her roots. This CD is nothing
short of pure greatness. Outstanding arrangements, great production, skilled musicians,
wonderful songs, and that glorious voice. What more could you ask for? Just listen to the
first song, Fill Me Up. If that song doesn't hook you, you can't be hooked. She even gives
the classic Bee Gee's song, Words, a nice treatment. This CD is well worth purchasing.
You will play this one over and over. It is that good.
Continuing her standard of excellence

Shawn continues to tell stories with her words and paint beautiful pictures with her music. As a songwriter, she continues to maintain an incredible standard of excellence and set an incredible example of an artist finding her own path along the way.
An album you will get lost in!
