Right-wing trolls have targeted this release. Isbell used to slightly bore me, but he's gotten better and better with his writing and singing, and it's impossible to ignore him any more. Click on the sound sample for the first song. Judge it by that. That said...I have no interest in buying the VIDEOS, just the songs.

There is a line that separates art from navel gazing. Looking in a mirror is the best way to avoid crossing that line. Mr. Isbell needs to be honest with himself. Does he actually think this is good work? The beauty of his early writing was made up of humble observations. That clarity has obviously morphed into a self indulgent circumspection - not unlike the pastel blue polyester suited televangelist. Loves the life - but has long past up on telling the truth about anything.
