  • Looking for Christmas in a desperate world

This is a thoughtful exploration of the deeper meaning and themes of Christmas. Anyone expecting holiday cheer should look elsewhere. But do you really expect that from Switchfoot? However, nor is it depressing. This is what I’d hope for in a Christmas album from this band. Jesus was born in a grim and brutal time. A light in the darkness. Hope for a hopeless people. Perhaps not unlike our time now. So I appreciate Switchfoot delving into uncharted territory here. They feel, as I do, the tension between true Christmas and the gift-wrapped plastic toy it has become in America. It’s not a perfect album. There’s always that one song you hate (I’m looking at you, Scrappy.) And if anything, I would have liked even more contrast. More carols about Immanuel, and more songs with a thread of intense hope amid chaos. But it is there. And I will continue to support Switchfoot no matter what. I’m glad they released this, and I hope they expand it further.
  • A Switchfoot twist on Christmas!

Switchfoot has a nice combination of original songs and Christmas classics on this album. I especially appreciated the songs that address the fact that for many, the holidays are difficult and often times complicated. It was comforting to know that other people may experience the same challenges at this time of year. Switchfoot shows us that it’s possible to find a new way to celebrate and bring joy back into the season.

This ranges from boring to depressing. This is not the kind of Christmas album I want in my collection.
  • Absolute trash

This is awful music. Absolute trash. I've been a big Switchfoot fan for a long time, but this is just...awful. This band is really starting to decline, but it really shows in this anti-Christmas album. Totally bereft of any holiday cheer.

  • If the holidays aren't depressing enough...

Ok, so if you know anyone who is considering ending it, DO NOT let them listen to this album. It's so morose and depressing, if you were in a good mood, you won't be by the end of the record. I really like this band, but holy smokes, y'all! If you like the Christmas season, move along. This is not the album for you. If you hate Christmas and want to wallow in your general malaise and misery, by all means, enjoy. So surprised at this one. Sorry, I just can't imagine what they were thinking here. Unless, of course, they said, "Let's make a record that makes people hate the holidays."
  • Finally!

Sadly Jon continues to ruin the band by making politics his god.
