Reviews

  • I don't like this side of Goldfrapp

This album is boring, uninteresting and unmemorable. It's all slow ballads with no heavy and unusual synthesizers which trademarks Goldfrapp. I definately do not like this side of Goldfrapp-"Tales of Us" and "Seventh Tree".

Thea has to be my favorite next to Annabel. Wonderfully done.
  • San Francisco Needs You Alison!

I have seen you twice Alison. For Felt Mountain at The Fillmore in 2003 and Seventh Tree at the Warfield in 2008. Absolute. Pure. Magic. This album is a wonderful direction. You are the siren on the rock. Thank you Will for your amazing notes. Again, pure magic. We are listening. Please bring your Tales to the Bay Area so we can hear this masterpiece in person. :)

I have always loved Goldfrapp's music. Everything they put out is just gold to me. This album hit some great social issues "Annabel" about a transgendered teen and Allison plays her mom. The music is haunting and takes you on a wonderful orchestrated journey.
  • I'm drifting in, deeper still

I've been listening to this album for a year now, and while I originally thought this was the closest Goldfrapp had come yet to their all-time high of Felt Mountain, I've changed my mind... I now consider Tales of Us their best album. Wil Gregory's production is at its subtle, sweepingly epic best, and Alison's voice is at its most sensitive and evocative.
