I have all NY's albums but if I could keep just one this would probably be it. So brilliant. It's not the rocking Neil or the country Neil but it's probably the closest thing to the real Neil you'll ever hear.

This is easily one of my favorite Neil Young albums. If you like those really laidback acoustic albums I recommend this album. A few of the conversations like Bookstore Rap are pretty funny to.
  • Very good album

This is an excellent Neil Young album. It is unfortunate that the buzzing sound in the background is so pronounced... but its barely audible in "Sugar Mountain" and other songs. Anyone who loves Neil Young should have it, and its a great snapshot of the era of Young's music when he had not gone electric yet.
  • Great early Neil, but nothing amazing

I am a longtime Neil Young fan and have hundreds of recordings, bootlegs, etc. This is a good, high-quality recording and a favorite of mine, but don't expect to be blown away. One of the things about Neil is (or bad, depending on the listener) is that acoustic Neil has not change much over the years, except for his voice as he's aged. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the album, but basically, it is Neil Young singing songs and playing an acoustic guitar. I guess it's a good deal at $12. I'm happy with it.

In September 1973 I moved into my college dorm at UC Santa Barbara. My room mate was not the best of people but on that first afternoon he set up his brand new stereo. He put on this Bootleg recording of a guy named Neil Young that I had not heard of before. The first song I remember from that recording was of "Sugar Mountain," a song that I would grow to think of as the perfect song for the first day of college, of growing up and away. I committed that song to memory. And so this afternoon I listened for the first time to this recording and I could not wait to let my wife of 20 years hear Sugar Mountain. Imagine my surprise then when I heard the recording and there, right at the end was a cough - the same cough that was on the bootleg. Neil, this is and has been an excellent recording and I am grateful that you have released a "legit" version at long last. Bob
