Evolution

The Hollies best 'non greatest hits' album by far (the sleeve art was cool too). Great harmonies with the under rated Allan Clarke out front set in a pseudo psychedelic vein, this album looked to be a turning point for the band. Sadly, the progression never continued and then Graham Nash went off to greater things. Apart from a few more great singles, this was the band's zenith.

What is wrong with the voice on this song? Or is recorded like this. Mickey Dolenz sings it better.

"Evolution" is perhaps one of the best Hollies Lp's of all time, in no small part due to the amazing scoring/orchestration by ex-Manfred Mann member Mike Vickers. Perceived as bandwagon jumping at the time of its release in 1967, "Evolution" contains a bevvy of pop clasics from the trippy "Then The Heartaches Begin' and the freakbeat tinged "Have You Ever Loved Somebody" to the soulful "Leave Me". Not a bad track in the lot!
