I want to meet the person who would even give 14 cents for this junk. Second hand store didn't even want it.

More than ever these songs could play for today’s world with the protesters & riots going along the police brutality & the political climate .
  • Terrific but some editing would have been nice

This is a really great Neil Young album--just he and his guitar playing amazing stuff. My one gripe is that they should have edited out some of the less meaningful banter, guitar tuning, and endless encore applause. It "set the stage" the first time or two, but with every successive listen that extraneous stuff distracts more from the amazing music. (We really don't need to hear Neil Young scolding the audience for taking pictures.) Don't let it stop you from buying the album but had that stuff been edited out it would have been that much more listenable.

I usually HATE live recordings. But this one is just meaningful! Most other artist live recordings are just the original song with a bunch of screaming, but this one doesn’t have as much screaming , and Neil says some pretty meaningful things.

I noticed that the latest Reviews for this album were dated 2007. I wanted to be sure that listeners know that the music is outstanding and the writing is still as relevant today as it was when Neil originally wrote it. This is great music that will remain iconic of our time and timeless for listening. Enjoy!

First off, the premise for this album is great. Neil Young is returning to Canada to perform for a very proud and appreciative national audience. The year is 1971, so many of the now-famous songs on this album (i.e. Old Man and The Needle and the Damage Done) were unknown to the crowd. Despite being in just his mid-twenties, Young shows an astounding amount of maturity and musical brilliance in this album; it's all acoustic, so he reworks some of his famous electric songs (Cowgirl in the Sand, Ohio, and Down By the River), includes jokes about his back injury (at the beginning of the Helpless take) and tells the stories behind some of his songs (Journey Through the Past, The Needle, and Old Man). Basically, he works the crowd like a much older man. His voice is in its prime and Young plays piano and guitar expertly. He is clearly in a great stage from a musical standpoint. Through it all, this album is definitely worth it. Channeling Young, I recommend buying the album on CD for much better quality. The differently-arranged versions of Ohio, Helpless, and particularly Down By the River (which is chilling) are my favorite tracks. On the Way Home, Journey Through the Past, and of course Old Man and The Needle are also excellent songs. This album is a must-have for a die-hard Neil Young fan, or anyone really. It'll definitely give you a great appreciation of Young's music. It's a keeper. P.S. iTunes, please allow people to separately buy the "music videos." That restriction is kind of ridiculous. :)
