I, like many, were completely gutted when Ben Folds Five was over. I went into this album thinking “...whatever. I’ll listen to it.” It’s so good. As good as BF5? I’m my opinion, no... nothing Ben has done solo meets the magic of BF5. But this was shockingly welcome to me.

So bittersweet it hurts. So beautiful it makes my spirit soar. So authentic it makes me grin. So bitter and angry it makes me angry too. Songs so well crafted it makes me cringe with envy (I'm a songwriter too). My god these are amazing melodies and amazing productions. The Ascent of Stan is truly a brilliant song. Who else is making music this good? Even today? Sure, there are a lot of stellar bands and artists out there today. And I love a lot of them. But there is nothing like this. Thank you Ben Folds.

You're music has really gotten me through a lot of things in my life. As a songwriter and artist myself I know that you can go to sleep at night feeling accomplished for what you're words and music has done in other people's lives. Me personally, I cry every time I hear "Still Fighting It" and I feel that such power in music these days is so underrated
