    First and foremost I always appreciate the time and effort Armin van Buuren puts into creating these mega mixes. But a lot of these tracks are so cheesy, it's just doesn't own up to the siganiture ASOT quality. Go back and listen to the earlier year mixes 04-08 as a reference, the quality is much much greater than what's being released these days. The only exception from this entire mix is Ferry Corsten's throwback "Neba". I guess we all just have to accept the fact nowadays that this is technically a new genre that's on these year mixes because it's definitely not trance. Too each their own, I also think that these releases should contain the extended mixes, but they won't because of licensing from all the labels these tracks originate from so you have to settle with the radio edits. Even though Armin claims these mixes are based from voters globally, but that's not all technically correct. All the tracks must all match in key when selecting each track and at the end of the day it's Armin's choice of the full mix's content. These mixes aren't a good buy for someone looking for "the best trance" in a year mix but this mix is simply ok in my opinion and would be entertaining for a party or a reference to see what in Armin's opinion, where the state of trance is each particular year.

    The thing that puts me off with these compilations is Armin tracks which to me are the worst tracks in trance history and what seems to be getting better is that most of his tracks somehow come into this. True spoilers. Lots of tracks better than it, sadly I have to listen to it, gladly I dont have to buy it. Will wait to hear the full thing aired on di.fm.

    I know Armin says he doesn't want to be a slave to his own sound. However, this album is not the trance I grew to love by Armin. To each his own. But this album is not for me.

  • Missing Another Track from Other Stores

    The U.S. and Canadian iTunes stores are missing another track that is on the actual CD and other stores versions like previous Year Mixes. It's missing #20 "Above & Beyond feat. Justine Suissa - Little Something (Super8 & Tab Remix)" from the first CD. It's a bit disappointing that they can't every song in the North American stores still, which means it's not the full mix. Other than that, it's another great summary of Armin's radio show from the year 2016.

    It is trance, and this is the best yearly compilation of it. Wish I tunes didn't allow reviews till it was released and only by people who actually bought it...

    Every year I must say I am blown away from the quality of tracks that are on the albums! I was fortunate to see ASOT 750 in Toronto, and lemme say that it was one of the best events I've ever been.! Cannot wait to preorder this track and see the Armin Only show in LA in feb 2017.!
