Let me start off by saying, this is my first Death Cab album. "Cath..." kept coming up on various Pandora stations of mine, and I was blown away every time I heard it. So, I decided to just dive in and buy the whole. And wow, am I glad that I did. Every song had something to offer, and I was very impressed by what the band had to offer: the lyrics were great throughout the duration of the album, and each musician is incredibly talented. This stuff is dark and deep, and from what I read online, this is the heaviest Death Cab album. Seeing as this fit my musical tastes perfectly, this might be the only Death Cab album I buy. So, I guess I'll leave this recommendation: To those whose musical interests lie primarily in hard-alternative rock and who have an interest in giving Death Cab a try, buy this, and it will quickly become one of your favorite albums. That's what happened with me at least. This is a work of art from start to finish. It is cohesive, and uniform in tone. Bravo boys, bravo.
  • For the most part, a really good album.

As a huge fan of Death Cab, this album is a great addition to the discography; however, I felt like "You Can Do Better Than Me" and "The Ice Is Getting Thinner" sounded like b-sides and added nothing to the album. Some of the songs off of the Open Door EP would've fit better. Overall, there are some great songs and some "eh" songs that kind of drag the album down at certain points. I think just coming right after Plans made it difficult since that was such a great album start to finish.

I love this album. Hauntingly beautiful in an expression of morosity. When I hear it... Rapture.
