This actually sounds like something that could have been on Madonna. I like it.

I agree with the critics maybe releasing this album wasnt necessary At first i liked it but now i dont even bother to touch this album If Madonna knew this was gonna be released she wouldve scraped it

The first song Laugh To Keep From Crying is my favorite track on this album. The music and vocals are reminiscent of Pretenders/Crissy Hynde and , in a good way, lacks the candy-pop vocals that dominate the rest of her music.

There's a reason Madonna never released this material.

Madonna is so talented and has stood the test of time, great music, great style and a wide variety. This album captures her raw dance music talent in it's early years!

I think this album is for ANYONE - fan or not!!! I am one of The Madgesties biggest fan and owned this CD in the late 90s... But got rid of it because I didn't like it!!! What a mistake! Definitely not the Madonna you'd expect, but amazing 80s sorta rock music. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to purchase this again... It is a true treat! I love it and so will you. These recordings just prove what a true talent Madonna is - and always has been!!!

I believe this is an album to keep for any Hardcore Madonna Fan. I was surprised when I tunes decided to share this item online since I had the album(French Edition) called "In the Beginning with Madonna" in my Madonna's CD Tower for many years. I wish I tunes share soon the booklet which is interesting to read. Each song comes with a brief story of how the song was made and mixed back in 1980 thru 1981. Also this album was a quite a demo for Madonna to get signed by Sire Records.

Finally found prior music from the start. Fab album. Living in the Middle East don't have the benefits of perusing records stores. Thanks for this fabulous find. This is an awesome album!!!!! Raw and hard! She shows that her talent was warrented!

I agree with many reviewers, that this "album" is for the hardcore fans. I was pleasantly surprised to find "Ain't No Big Deal." I had a blue vinyl 45 single of "True Blue" and if I recall that song was the b-side. I love Madonna's earlier stuff anyhow, it was pure pop ear candy.
